Insurance Information
The Holiday Insurance Plan
If a holiday is cancelled our policy is such that we pay the owner of the property in full, subject to the property not being subsequently relet. Under our Booking Conditions, the full charges are payable once your booking has been confirmed. We understand, however, that illness, death or accident can cause cancellations, all of which we can do very little about. We are therefore offering a comprehensive cancellation scheme, underwritten at Lloyds of London, at a cost of twenty six pounds per week, payment of which is obligatory and should be included with your deposit payment. This price is inclusive of IPT, but cover is only available to UK residents.
If you have your own insurance cover then this must be stated on the booking form, as once your booking has been confirmed, the insurance cover is effective and cannot be cancelled.
This insurance will entitle you to a refund of both your deposit and balance (if paid) (there is a £25 excess per claim) - but not your twenty six pounds Insurance Plan payment, if you are forced to cancel as a result of one or more of the reasons listed below, provided they occur after payment of the premium:
1. Death, disablement, illness, compulsory quarantine, jury service or witness summons of the Insured person or any other person with whom the Insured person intends to travel.
2. The Insured person being made redundant (provided such redundancy qualifies for payment under the United Kingdoms Redundancy Payments Acts)
3. Death, disablement or illness of the husband, wife, child, father, mother, father in law, mother in law, or close business associate of the Insured person or any person with whom the Insured intends to travel.
4. The Insured persons home being rendered uninhabitable by Fire, Explosion, Subsidence, Malicious Damage, Storm or Flood.
5. The police requesting the presence of the Insured person at home following burglary at the Insured persons home or place of business.
6. Cancellation of the Insured persons leave by H.M. Armed Forces or H.M. Police.
7. An accident on the Insured persons journey to the holiday home which curtails the journey.
8. Strike/Industrial action or mechanical breakdown of the pre-booked sea vessel which results in a delay of at least 12 hours on the outward journey.
Please note that this cover does not extend to pre-existing conditions, adverse weather conditions nor does it cover anyone over the age of 81.
Should your holiday be curtailed by any of the above events, a proportion of the cost of your holiday will be refunded based on the number of days of the holiday actually taken. If this should happen our office must be notified verbally on the day you intend to leave the property. In the case of any claim for any of the above reasons a relevant certificate should be forwarded to our office.
