Holiday Cottages in North York Moors & The Yorkshire Coast
North York Moors & The Yorkshire Coast
The rugged and dramatic coast of North Yorkshire is the splendid setting for both family and seaside resorts and quaint old fishing villages. To the South of this coastline Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough provide golden sandy beaches which will enthral children for hours. At Bempton, near Bridlington, is one of Europe's largest bird sanctuaries where bird watchers may while away their days. Spreading inland from this coast are the Wolds, a natural limestone feature where arable farming makes the most of the pleasant rolling contryside. Pretty walks and peaceful villages nestle in the shallow valleys - a perfect place for idling away the days in peace and tranquility. Further North the sea cliffs are higher and the charming old fishing villages of Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes have been cut into the cliffs stretching down to the water's edge. One of the most popular resorts on the coast is Whitby, still an important fishing port. Here the River Esk, the only Salmon river in Yorkshire, divides the town. The vase expanse of the North York Moors National Park lies adjacent to this part of the Coast. Open moorland covering hundreds of square miles is interlaced with deep, fertile valleys. The roads here follow the ridges between the valleys giving the motorist some magnificent views. Picturesque villages like Hutton le Hole, Rosedale Abbey and Thornton le Dale make excellent starting points for walks through some very beautiful countryside. This is Heartbeat country and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway threads its way between Pickering and Grosmont transporting visitors back in time to the romantic days of steam!Click here for our holiday cottages in North York Moors & The Yorkshire Coast and Through a Map
