Holiday Cottages in Vale of York
Vale of York
Around 2000 years of history is crammed into the City of York. From Roman times to the modern day each era has left its mark. Started by the Romans the existing City Walls were built in the 13th Century and today provide an imposing setting from which to gaze over the City Centre with its narrow winding streets.Medieval streets, museums, gardens, guided tours and many historical buildings make York one of the foremost Tourist Centres in the country. Stay for a week and there will still be plenty left for future visits.
Outside the City are acres of open, arable farmland stretching from the Dales to the Yorkshire Wolds. Spread out here are stately homes including Beningborough Hall, Castle Howard and Sutton Park, all of which are open to the public. Being central to the whole of North Yorkshire, York provides an ideal opportunity for first time visitors to sample the delights that this great county has to offer.
